Our latest version of Photodropper now uses a lightbox-type interface for adding photos to your posts. Some people are a bit confused about this so here’s an overview of the new process.
Once you have downloaded, installed, and set your options for the latest version of Photodropper, you will now see a little PD graphic at the top right of your “write post” panel, next to the Visual, HTML tabs that launches Photodropper (I think WP calls it a “media button”):
Once you click that you will see the photodropper search interface:
the rest of the process is pretty much the same as described in this post.
We moved the interface to integrate it more with the new Wordpress workflow. If you prefer the original interface, you can still use it by setting your Photo Dropper options: in your admin panel go to Settings > Photo Dropper > and check the “Enable Legacy Support” (or “Use Classic Interface” depending on your version) which will switch back to the old-school interface (which puts Photodropper search below the write post panel).
We’d like to get some feedback about this from our users. Do you like the new interface or do you prefer the old way of using photodropper (without the lightbox-type overlay)?
P.S. As you can see, we just recently updated the look of this site to the excellent Thesis theme. We hope you like the new look.
P.P.S. If you’re confused, we’ll soon be posting a video explaining all of this.
Thanks for all your support and feeback.

Love the new look. Makes me wonder if I had anything to do with it?

nothing happens when I click “search”…. I’m running wp 2.6.1 . Any ideas?
Both interface types don’t seem to work.

@2: Please be sure to upgrade to the latest version of photodropper - v 1.0.8. The last update fixed the issue you mention above.

I was unable to get both the latest version v1.0.8 and the previous version working my installation (wordpress 2.6.1).
When I go to write a post, the normal page comes up but Internet Explorer 7 reports a syntax error. When I attempt it add a photo, it fails and instead takes me back to the main page of my blog!
This syntax error message disappears when I disable the plugin.

Just FYI, the download link still appears to be pointing to 1.0.7. I was able to get 1.0.8 by changing the version number in the download URL.

Thanks for the heads up, Sarah. Updated.

The plugin is brilliant, but please please make it an option to have the credits inserted as a image caption, not just as normal text… Usually I even collect all the credits and put them at the end, but if I can have it in a caption (Zemanta does this well), that would be fine too… In the text, they just clutter things up. Otherwise brilliant work!!

Thanks for the suggestion, Stian. For now, you can always use HTML mode and change the link but per the Creative Commons & Flickr rules - technically - you should specify the type of license that the photo is licensed under (hence our link to the license).

Fantastic plugin! Only wish I would have found it sooner.
Thanks!

OK, my ’syntax error’ problem was caused by the WP Google Analytics plugin which was interfering with outgoing links inside other plugins.
I solved it by replacing WP Google Analytics with Ultimate Google Analytics.

Hello, I just found this great plug in. I am using Justin tadlock’s options theme and wp 2.6.2 When i use photodropper, everything works well, I like the media button just fine, but the photos are not automatically added into the media library. Was there a setting I missed? I now have to still manually add the photos after photodropper finds them for me.
admin 10.21.08 at 4:46 pm
Diane: the photos are never added to the media library since they’re never copied or hosted on your own domain - they are served from flickr’s servers.

Hello there,
Would love to use this plugin, but I can’t make it work. I’m using Wordpress 2.6.3 (tried on 2.6.2 too), and when I click on “search”, nothing happens, or actually the page reloads. Tried both IE and FF, but no luck.

I love photodropper! What an awesome plugin, I use it all the time, but for some reason it recently stopped working. Maybe when I upgraded wordpress? I have the most recent copy of Photodropper, but like others, for some reason I get no response now when I click “search.” I just uninstalled and reinstalled with version 1.08, so I don’t think that is the problem. Any suggestions?

I love this plugin. I just recently installed it on my localhost with my current install of Thesis (how I found out about it) and it is very nice. Everything works like a charm on my localhost running wp2.6.3. I have recently installed a fresh copy of wp2.7Rc1 on my live site as a test for my new design and plugins (which will soon host my paid reviews - and some not so paid reviews). On that fresh install of wp2.7rc1 the photodropper CSS is ignored. It functions, but does not style. I am not sure if I can “fix” this through the CSS file or if it is an issue with 2.7rc1.
Suggestions? if you would like to look at what I am talking about you can email me and I’ll send you a link (i’d rather not post it yet).

I’m having the same problem as GardenGrrrl. I’ve reinstalled the latest version of Photodropper, but no luck. I’ve also disabled all other plugins, still no luck. Any insights would be much appreciated!

I too have the problem in 15 and 17:
1) Wordpress 2.7 full version
2) Photodropper 1.0.8
3) Thesis theme
Press search and nothing happens.
a) I’ve deactivated all plugins. Still no joy.
b) Created another new blog from scratch.
– WP 2.7
– Photodropper 1.0.8
–a generic theme.
Photodropper works fine.
Now, since you’re running Thesis here I’m thinking this isn’t really a Thesis issue, but it’s also not a plugin issue either.
As @Sara Lewis said above, “Any insights would be much appreciated!”
